Ukraine Beats Portugal to Reach Euro 2020

Ukraine has advanced to the finals of Euro 2020 following an impressive first-half enabled them with a 2-1 home win against Portugal. This led Ukraine at the top of the table with 19 points of 7 games. It is 8 points more than Portugal, the second-placed European champions. Serbia is in the third position with 10 points from 6 games after Aleksandar Mitrovic gave them a win at Lithuania with 2-1 score.

Luxemburg has obtained 4 points of 6 games and Lithuanians lagging behind with only 1 point of 7 matches. Ukraine had to avoid being defeated to qualify for the third consecutive European championship. They had a perfect start with Roman Yaremchuk firing them to a 6th minute lead.

Ukraine Stays 25th According to Ranking by FIFA

The rankings of the national football teams of the world have been once again refreshed by the International Football Association (FIFA). The first three positions of the ranking have been achieved by Belgium, France, and Brazil. Crossing over every other nation, the first position has been taken over by Belgium, followed by France and Brazil in the second and third places respectively. Belgium remains as the leader of the ranking list. The positions for Brazil and France have been different earlier but both of them have changed in the position according to the list that has been recently released by FIFA.

There have been some major shifts in the first ten places for the FIFA ranking. Portugal has taken over the fifth position rising from sixth in the ranking. Previously, Uruguay was in fifth place. The national team of Ukraine remained in the 25th position in the recent FIFA ranking released. In the refreshed list released by FIFA, Spain has risen to the seventh position leaving behind Croatia. They were in the ninth position earlier. On the other hand, Croatia has come down to eighth place in the ranking. Columbia has come down from eighth place to the ninth one. Both England and Argentina have been successful to hold back their 4th and 10th place in the rankings list respectively.

Ukraine U-20 Wins the World Cup Title

Recovering from the shock of lagging behind to a penalty at an early half of the match, Ukraine defeated South Korea by 3-1 and won the World Cup Final of u-20/. The star player for Ukraine was Vladyslav Supriaha, the nineteen-year-old player who scored twice as his country lifted the prestigious title for the 1st time. They succeed in the England side from 2017. The Koreans are going to take a lead in Lodz at central Poland with as Lee Kang transformed the 5th-minute penalty given after the review from VAR. this was when Kim Se-Yun was fouled at the edge of the box.

Europa League match of Arsenal to be held in Kiev as planned. The initial destination was Vorskla Poltava which has now been switched and is to be held in Kiev. There had been concerns before but now UEFA has confirmed about the go-ahead for the game.

The match between Arsenal and Ukraine in September had been a significant one where Pierre-Emerick Aubame yang scored for Arsenal. Europa League match of Arsenal versus Vorskla Poltava took place at Kiev ON Thursday. The move was decided by UEFA on Tuesday. They moved the game, belonging to Group E to the Butovsky stadium of Poltava which is 185 miles to the east of Kiev. The move was made due to security concerns that arose since martial law was introduced in the country. The country has been facing political turmoil with Russia having seized three ships of Ukraine and hence, martial law was announced by the country’s politicians for the areas vulnerable to attacks.

UKRAINE CONDUCTING RAIDS AS THEY INVESTIGATE MATCH FIXING

Ukraine National Police have been conducting raids on football clubs in eleven regions as they carry out investigations into football match fixing, reports claim. The searches happened on the 26th of June as the economic crime arm of the National Police raided match organizers, former and current football players and other unit officials involved.

About a month ago, the Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov revealed that the police had setup an operation to look into organized crimes related to football. Of the 52 pro football sides, the police found about 70 per cent culpable.
